Improving health and care in Greenwich, Charlton and Blackheath
Our west Greenwich neighbourhood covers Greenwich Creekside, Greenwich Park, East Greenwich, Greenwich Peninsula, Charlton Village and Riverside, Blackheath Westcombe, and Charlton Hornfair.
Partners in the Healthier Greenwich Partnership are working together to support the communities in these areas and help people live happier and healthier lives.
We're listening to concerns and needs, and supporting people to develop their local community to meet their needs.
We're keen to work even closer with people in this neighbourhood.
This page will be updated as we develop our approach, but you can read about the journey so far and what local people have shared and developed.
Blackheath and Charlton Community Alliance
The Blackheath and Charlton Community Alliance is a vibrant and diverse network of residents, stakeholders, and community and faith leaders. The group meets monthly and is guided by community feedback and shared priorities to shape its discussions and actions.
A collaborative action plan has been developed, focusing on the following key priorities:
- Identifying and applying for funding opportunities, including the Greenwich Healthier Communities Fund
- Exploring the potential to formalise the group as a consortium
- Creating a year-round programme of community activities and events, such as healthy walks and a community café for regular drop-ins
- Improving communications through a newsletter and better methods for sharing event updates
- Building partnerships with local GP practices
- Agreeing on an official name for the group
- Developing a long-term sustainability or “exit” strategy to reduce reliance on current support structures

Community Voting Day – 5 July 2025
On Saturday 5 July, communities in three areas of the borough took part in their own Community Voting Day to vote for the projects they want to see funded to help improve the health and wellbeing in their area. This event followed the participatory budgeting model, a democratic process that allows community members to decide how public funds are spent directly.
Community leaders set the priorities for the funding that included: social and community connection, physical activity, mental health and wellbeing, built environment, raise awareness or improve access to local support and services, and food. Projects could bid for up from £250 to £1,000.
In Blackheath and Charlton in total, 14 applications were received, and the community selected 10 projects to be delivered in the community over the coming year.
