Digital First is a programme of work that supports the transformation of primary care with the aim of delivering equal access to digital services for all patients. Since 2019, the London Digital First team have been focusing on the implementation, understanding and improvement of digital tools within general practice (primary care), across London. Digital tools include:

  • an online form (also known as an online consultation) for advice from your practice or to request an appointment
  • the NHS App to request repeat medication, book an appointment and view your GP held medical record
  • your GP practice's website
  • any other app recommended by your GP

The Health Innovation Network, have partnered with the London regional Digital First team to capture people’s awareness and experiences of digital care tools. The aim of this is to investigate and better understand the patient experience of digital care by identifying key themes and areas for improvement.

How you and others were involved:

The survey closed and other engagement activities in autumn 2023. Thank you to everyone for contributing and sharing your experience. The online survey received 3267 responses, and 33 people took part in focus group discussions from across London.
