As Lambeth's Health and Care Partnership, we're acutely aware of the clear link between Housing and Health, so we're especially interested in understanding your views on the Housing Strategy's third priority: Supporting Healthy and Safe Neighbourhoods.
Andrew Eyres, Strategic Director for Integrated Health and Care for NHS South East London Integrated Care Board (SEL ICB) and Lambeth Council, said:
“The Lambeth Living Well Network Alliance is an award winning partnership between the NHS, a range of council services and voluntary organisations that supports people with mental health conditions and offers practical support with housing issues.... We know that homelessness has a dreadful impact on people’s mental and physical health and wellbeing and on their life chances. We and our partners will seize this opportunity to develop innovative approaches to preventing homelessness while focussing on groups that are often overlooked, such as young people and women who experience domestic abuse.”
The Purpose / Background of Lambeth Council's Housing Strategy
A lack of government investment in new or existing homes coupled with rising costs and a cost-of-living crisis means there are many housing challenges facing Lambeth.
The draft Strategy sets out how we will address these challenges across three priority themes:
PRIORITY ONE: More Affordable Homes
Lambeth Housing will lead the way in providing more genuinely affordable homes for residents, making best use of resources, levers and opportunities to innovate.
Lambeth Housing will put residents first, providing services which value and meet the needs of residents – and rectify things if they go wrong.
PRIORITY THREE: Supporting Healthy and Safe Neighbourhoods
Lambeth Housing will be at the centre of safe and sustainable places, which support health and wellbeing.
We want to hear your views on the draft strategy! After the consultation closes we will consider all the feedback and intend to agree the new strategy early in 2024.
