We’re looking to improve the way the NHS Health Check is provided in Lambeth. Your feedback will help us make sure that everyone who is eligible, and especially those who are most at risk from physical health conditions such as heart disease and diabetes, can get this important annual check.
An NHS Health Check is a free check-up of your overall health, and usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes. A health professional, often a nurse or healthcare assistant, will ask you some questions about your lifestyle and family history, measure your height and weight, take your blood pressure, and do a blood test. The check-up tell you whether you’re at higher risk of developing preventable problems like heart disease, a stroke, type 2 diabetes, kidney disease or dementia. During the check-up you’ll also discuss how you can reduce your risk of these conditions.
The NHS Health Check is available by invitation from your GP to anyone aged between 40-75 years old who has not already been diagnosed with heart disease, diabetes or kidney disease, or had a stroke.
Feedback is welcome from anyone who meets the eligibility criteria for the NHS Health Check.
All information gathered is anonymous.
