The Community Wheelchair Service provides assessments, equipment, and ongoing support for children and adults in Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich who require wheelchairs for mobility and independence. The current service contract is due to end in November 2026 and we are planning for the future, we want to ensure that the service continues to meet your needs.

We are reviewing how the service is currently working and what could be improved. Your feedback is important in helping us understand what matters most to you. This includes your experiences of:

  • Referral and assessment

  • Waiting times

  • Choice and suitability of equipment

  • Delivery, repairs, and maintenance

  • Support for growth or changing needs over time

  • Communication and overall experience of the service

In November 2025 we open conversation aiming to hear feedback from wheelchair users, families, carers, and professionals. Their views are helping us shape the future design of the Community Wheelchair Service to ensure it is timely, responsive, and supports independence and quality of life.

We held two focus groups in January 2026 (13 January, 6 -7:30pm and 15 January, 10 - 11:30am). We are organising one more focus group on:

Join the Wheelchair service steering group as lived experience member

The programme is looking for two people (wheelchair users, families, carers) from Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, to join Wheelchair service programme steering group. The group aims to oversee and provide strategic direction for the design, engagement and procurement of a consistent, equitable wheelchair service across Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich. The group will guide the project to ensure alignment with local and regional priorities, support better patient outcomes and promote collaborative working across all boroughs.

The role of the members with lived experience is to reflect on their experience of using and accessing the service or supporting service users to inform discussions and support the improvement outcome and help design further engagement.

    • Bromley Healthcare in Bromley
