Background
NHS South East London are proposing a new Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) community service. The service will cover a wide range of ENT conditions, with the intention that most people requiring ENT treatment will be seen in the community service. Establishing a community ENT service will help reduce waiting times and ensure patients get more timely access to care.
To help shape the service, we invited people who have an ENT condition or are waiting for an ENT hospital appointment to tell us about their experience.
We held two webinars, where participants had the opportunity to find out more about the initial proposal, ask questions, tell us what works well and what could be improved.
The webinars took place online via MS Teams. Please see the presentations by clinking the links below:
Read the webinars summary report.
We also asked you to share your views by taking part in our online survey. We wanted to know what was working well, what can be improved, and what you think the community service should look like. The survey closed on 17 March.

Procurement panel member for new community ENT service
Following on an open application process we recruited two people who have experience of using ENT services to join the panel procuring the new community ENT service.
After a competitive procurement process, the NHS South East London Integrated Care Board has awarded the contract for a new community based ENT service. This new community service aims to reduce waiting times, enhance patient choice, and ease demand for secondary care outpatient services in the region.
The new community ENT service will address a wide type of common ENT conditions for adults and paediatric patients such as blocked noses, hearing issues and ear problems.
